tara + keith: engagement photos!

yes – this is going to be another one of those posts where i rave about the couple and want to put up at least 47 pics of them…
let me first say that i love, love, love tara! she was a breath of fresh air: funny, fashionable, beautiful, AND she loves photos! i had a total blast with her and keith yesterday in baltimore…we have had to postpone a few times, and were all very excited and anxious to meet – we’ve exchanged a million emails and i knew we were going to get along fabulously. tara even said keith had been practicing his smile – this was particularly hilarious, and totally unecessary as they laughed and smiled the entire time without any prompting by me! we started out in fells point and walked to the docks at the frederick douglass maritime park – love that place! photographed an awesome wedding there just last month…then it was off to the american visionary arts museum in federal hill to get a killer photo under the idyllic neon LOVE sign. we were so thrilled about it, and then just as siked to explore the outdoor section of the museum! tara + keith stood in front of the amazing glass mosaic exterior of the muesum and even held the door for visitors when they entered! then tara jumped on this metal bug statue and keith “pretended” to perch above it (note: no art was harmed in the making of these photos!) then we walked around back where little ceramic paintings and figures lined the walls and discovered a huge fort made of wood! they ran right in and peeked out at me! loved it! there were these cool concrete stairs that they walked up, and next thing i knew keith scooped tara up in his arms! too cute! oh, and i did i mention we got a great shot with their dog hogan at the very end? yay!

what better way to spend a sunday than with a couple as amazing as tara + keith?
i love my job :)

this may be my favorite – there’s just something about this one, and about tara – i think it’s the way she’s standing, it draws my eye. i tried it with an antique wash, and i think it pretty much rocks.

yvon + seth.

yvon + seth are married! theirs was a wonderfully intimate ceremony at the city tavern club in georgetown saturday evening…
yvon was having her hair and makeup done with her maid of honor, sister, and niece at the red door spa – yvon is so cute and we laughed and chatted the whole time. i’ve been so excited about shooting her wedding – in the last few months we’ve become friends so it was great to be with her all day. yvon is such an exhuberant, awesome girl – you can’t help but have a good time when you’re with her! seth is more the strong, silent type – they are such a perfect match.
the ceremony was held (so appropriately!) in the bliss room at the ctc, where the reverend read some of adam smith’s philosophy (they both work in finance) and both seth and yvon’s sisters delivered touching poems about love. they also incorporated a water ceremony – each pouring different colored water from seperate vases into one – a further symbol of their new unity.
after a lively cocktail reception on the terrace (yay for warm october nights!) guests enjoyed a lavish dinner followed by a very entertaining slideshow put together by the talented and hardworking groom – good job seth! everyone was treated to absolutely adorable photos of seth and yvon through the years – it was very funny…
afterwards, the rockin’ winn brothers band announced the newlyweds for their first dance – a perfectly choreographed number! it was great – everyone cheered and seth’s mom was so amazed at his skills! the band played all yvon’s favorite songs – including vanilla ice’s ever popular ice, ice, baby – good thing i occupied with the camera – otherwise it could have been yet another karaoke performance -ha!
there were some incredible dance moves going on and everyone had a fantastic time – especially yvon! the huge smile never left her face as she danced the night away with her family and friends…and HUSBAND!

congratulations yvon + seth! i am so very happy you and can’t wait to you both soon – what an incredible day!

crystal + edwin.

crystal + edwin’s wedding at the ronald reagan building on sunday was beautiful…the weather was perfect, the flowers and decor were stunning, and their families were so much fun – dancing like crazy all evening long! they chose the reagan building because of its proximity to freedom plaza – a very special place for edwin (the awesome skateboarder that he is) as freedom plaza is highly regarded as one of the best places to skateboard in the country. there was a turkish festival going on all day on sunday, so when we went to get some shots the guys had to be very low key, as skateboarding is officially prohibited…we got some great shots, and more importantly edwin and his boys had fun skating in their fancy suits, and crystal joined in the craziness as well…i have to say one of the coolest things at the wedding (and there were many – from the insane dollar dance, to the skateboarding escapade, to the phillipine traditions during the ceremony) was the groom’s cake: a “crab” cake – it was literally a bushel of fondant crabs with a side of corn and old bay! fancy cakes by leslie rocked it out.

erica + jeff.

what an incredibly fun afternoon wedding! erica had me laughing from the moment i walked in the door – decked out in her diamond-studded BRIDE tank top she immediately commented that she loved how fashionable MK and i were – her fancy photogs! she was full of energy and was absolutely glowing the entire day…it was awesome just being around her.
the outdoor ceremony at the historic oakland in columbia, md was simply beautiful, and the reception that followed was wild! the dance floor was packed underneath the huge, white tent, and the guests had a blast…it was great meeting erica + jeff, and great shooting with MK (per the usual)…congrats!

the great room.

i had such a good time tonite at the “soft” opening of the great room at the doubletree hotel in bethesda. i covered the event for washington life magazine and met so many great people – including a fun couple who lives in my building…how crazy is that? they were like “you look like this photographer who lives in our building…” what do you know? the blonde photographer! it turns out he’s an amazing plastic surgeon so i introduced him to my dear friend aubryn from hela spa who was there with the ever-stylish lotta…the owners of the hotel also made an appearance along with tons of bethesda + dc socialites…i got to chat with two lovely ladies from panama one of my favorite countries! there were incredible performers, delicious sushi, lots of wine, and an entire room full of gorgeous, decadent chocolate creations.
bravo doubletree, what a great evening!

andrea + tim: engagement photos.

ok – let me tell you how much i loooooooove this couple!
andrea + tim are a breath of fresh air – they are young, energetic, totally silly, and TOTALLY head-over-heels in love!
andrea lives in south dakota and tim lives in dc…so they pretty much spend all their time chatting on the phone and planning as many weekends together as possible. they are both from huge families (they each have 8 siblings!) and they have tons in common, including their great personalities. this weekend andrea was in dc so we met at the lincoln memorial and then headed to georgetown – andrea even showed me photos from when tim proposed on the beach in california in the cab! too cute!

we had a blast running around the city, these two were up for anything – laying in the grass, piggy back rides, a stroll along the canal, tim even attempted to dramatically dip andrea – which went all wrong! it’s ok, they have plenty of time before the wedding to perfect it ;)
nonetheless, the shoot was a fantastic success, i have about 100 photos of them just absolutely hysterically laughing. it was a lot of fun, and i am so glad to have met these two, and who knows? i might even make it to south dakota for the wedding next year…
