virginia is for lovers.

kristen + bill are married!
they chose the gorgeous hillsborough vineyards as the setting for their summer wedding, a balmy august afternoon ceremony overlooking the blue ridge mountains, followed by dancing under the stars! it was stunning in every way — classic, romantic, and intimate, the vineyard was a true reflection of kristen + bill, and the ideal backdrop for such a lovely celebration. they are an absolutely amazing couple with an undeniable energy and magnetic charm. i completely fell in love with both of them from the moment we met and i simply adored the way they looked at each other — so blissfully happy!
it was truly a privilege to watch their day unfold, capturing all the wonderful love + laughter they shared with family + friends. just thinking back on the day brings a smile to my face, and i am so happy for kristen + bill!
congrats!
enjoy!

the beautiful + talented monika vasey delighted guests at the ceremony with her harp!

kristen took a few moments to call her grandmother, who wasn’t able to attend the wedding.

i *loved* this couple — married just shy of 50 yrs! — whose love + laughter was inspiring!

keep calm and carry massage on.

the brilliant + talented leigh stevens, at her home studio in philadelphia.
leigh stevens, the incredibly creative mastermind behind least likely to breed (LL2B), is a woman of many talents — artist, massage therapist, business woman, mother, wife, and aesthetic genius — she does it all! ever since i discovered her fabulous products and ordered my custom lip balms ages ago, ive loved working with her and getting to know her better. last year i did a session with her + scott to celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary and was thrilled to visit her again in philly last month. leigh is preparing to launch her newest project — whereapy, a comprehensive online guide to therapy in philadelphia — and i spent the day documenting various forms of therapy, from massage to reiki to acupuncture and more! it was a fantastic experience — check out their *new* blog online :: blog.whereapy.com

attempting to revive the oyster population.

tred avon river oyster sanctuary — oxford, md.
a few weeks ago i had the opportunity to learn more about chesapeake bay oysters, while on assignment for maryland life magazine. they are running an article on marylanders grow oysters, a project that aims to foster a diverse oyster reef through community action. i spent the morning with chris judy from the maryland department of natural resources as he collected oysters grown by oxford residents in the tred avon river. 150+ volunteer oyster growers tended nearly 900 cages, yeilding approximately 250,000 oysters.
i also visited the horn point oyster hatchery at the university of maryland center for environmental science to document their production of oyster spat for research, restoration, and educational projects. i thoroughly enjoyed learning about these programs and the process, and im very excited to read the article when it is published!

backstage pass.

sam + kelly :: engaged! :: university of maryland, college park.
i was absolutely thrilled when kelly wrote to tell me she + sam were engaged — he popped the question just weeks after kristi + jon’s awesome wedding where kelly was a bridesmaid! even more awesome, kelly is kristi’s younger sister — so fun! kelly + kristi (like most sisters) are similar in some ways, but very different in others. they are both gorgeous blondes and totally in love, with incredible, positive energy. however, while kristi + jon are total hams in front of the camera, kelly + sam are much more mellow (dare i say, camera shy?) — in fact, when i went back to look for pics of them at kristi + jon’s wedding i only had one photo of sam from the entire night! it was great to see them again, and i loved getting to know them better during our session.
they met and fell in love a few years ago while attending the university of maryland — they worked together at the performing arts center (which is how they first met) and so we started our session in the theatre. it was very cool to have all access to such a unique spot, and with so much meaning! from there we ran all over campus, chasing the sun and visiting some of their favorite spots — the mall + fountain, the sun dial, jim henson’s statue, the famed bronze testudo, and even a topiary version of the beloved mascot. it was a gorgeous summer evening and i’m so very excited for this fabulous couple!
a huge congrats to kelly + sam — enjoy!

tiny blonde fairies have more fun.

happy birthday gracyn!
baby gracyn is one! i can barely believe it — it seems like not long ago that i met this family for the first time and she was just a little newborn {see gracyn at 4 weeks!} and now she’s running around and eating cupcakes! i can’t imagine a more festive celebration and i absolutely *loved* her fabulous fairy tale 1st birthday party — wow! the party was a visual delight — tissue poms hung from the ceiling, and a carpet of flowers transformed the house into a fairy garden — i was in awe of the amazing etsy-inspired decor from * the polka dot pinwheel * POM LOVE * stay awake * and more. fairy wings + tutus (and dragon costumes for the boys!) were given to all the tiny guests who were enchanted by a fairy caravan puppet show! every detail was perfection — a custom sweets bar with blue + purple toadstool cupcakes, a fairy toadstool cake, and magic pretzel wands — all homemade! bravo to mom’s who truly do it all!
the entire event was orchestrated by the incredibly creative + talented shannon green, an amazing mama who has just gone pro with her planning for little ones — woo! since she got her start planning her own children’s parties {check out kimsey’s super fun cowgirl birthday!} shannon is wonderfully in tune with mom’s and their children. want to know more about sweet pea soirees? follow her on twitter, fan her on facebook or check out her blog!
enjoy!
