kristen + neto: engagement photos.

a very romantic session in montrose park.

due to crazy dc weather conditions, we kept having to postpone kristen + neto’s engagement session…by the time we were able to get together the wedding was only a week away! it’s OK, they are still technically engagement shots, although it felt like a pre-wedding portrait session :)
i took them to montrose park, and loved revisiting this incredible location where i photographed jennifer + jeffrey’s wedding just a few weeks ago! i am so grateful for finally discovering this great spot – it’s like an enchanted forest in the middle of georgetown!
kristen + neto were perfectly relaxed in front of the camera and looked gorgeous together! i loved their interaction and the way they looked at each other, they were very romantic and montrose park was the perfect backdrop for them!

enjoy!

jules + alexander: playtime!

little sister + big brother.

i had a wonderful time hanging out with jules + alexander this morning. they are *so* adorable and *so* sweet! jules will be 2 in august, and alexander is almost 4 years older than her. they have a great dynamic – i loved watching them dance around the kitchen and search the backyard for the neighbors’ kitty! jules has the cutest little voice and was calling me james! love her! and alexander is so smart, he taught me about so many different types of animals – i need to take him on my next safari! i do have to say the best part about photographing these fantastic children is getting to spend time with their mom – kristin, who i absolutely adore! watching her with jules + alexander makes me want to be a mom! she’s so patient and gentle, but so fun! i laughed so hard while her + jules played peek-a-boo and when the three of them were just goofing around.

kristin – thank you again for welcoming me into your home, i can’t wait for our next session! your family rocks!

golfing with the groom.

an 8 o’clock tee time with the groom to be.

lesson learned: when golf isn’t going great – photograph yourself!

in spite of having worked on a golf course for many years (beverage cart girl, bartender), i have never actually played golf, much less swung a golf club correctly. however, when marc put out an open invitation for a round of golf on his wedding day i jumped at the opportunity. a polo shirt, some rented clubs and a set of 15 golf balls later, i was on the course before 8 am ready to go, camera in hand of course. jessica claire should be happy to know that a shootsac looks fabulous when paired with golf attire! i had a fantastic time, only losing 3 balls in the water and managing a few decent swings. my frustrations became increasingly entertaining, and i’m not certain i even finished the 18th hole, but i did enjoy taking photos of our enjoyable outing!

marc looking perfectly relaxed + vicky teeing off.

i’m confused…because i don’t understand golf and someone else is using my camera against me!

when all else fails, find an appropriate target…

this pretty much sums up my day.

i relaxed a little after i realized our “pros” weren’t taking things too seriously either.

marc blames vicky for tearing up the fairway on the 18th hole…?

bubbles.

blowing bubbles and hiding from the paparazzi.

i try to tell paul that he’s simply too cute to hide from my camera.

however, i realize it’s even cuter when he does hide from it!

reverse road trip.

on the road again.

after a fantastic week in florida – equal parts work/vacay – i turned around and trekked the 900 miles back up I-95 to dc…i stopped for a lovely breakfast in savannah and could easily have spent all day wandering it’s quaint and funky downtown…i only allowed myself an hour, then it was back to the highway. in response to the last post on south of the border my friend casey reminded me how firework “enthusiastic” these southern states are. at times you can’t go a mile without seeing multiple billboards announcing the ultimate discounts on fireworks, and there are often as many firework warehouses as gas stations off any given exit. i can honestly say i’ve never purchased, or had the desire to purchase fireworks. so therefore all the hype seems more than a tad extravagant to me…perhaps i’m missing out on something?
