timothy: lifestyle session!

baby timothy is THE definition of a “bundle of joy”! this jubliant little boy is about to celebrate his first birthday and i am so happy i was able to spend the afternoon documenting his amazing expressions, adorable giggles, and fabulous smile! one of my favorite couples ever – katie + chris (you can recognize them from the renowned “bench photo” in the blog header!) – gifted this lifestyle session to timothy’s parents…so awesome! i *love* when people purchase gift certificates for friends + family – it’s such a meaningful present and i love being part of something extra special!

even more awesome, i actually met timmy as a brand-spankin newborn when he attended katie + chris’ wedding almost a year ago! i remember seeing his mom and this tiny baby bundle standing quietly just outside of the tent, separate from all the dancing and craziness of the reception. i’m always amazed at teeny newborns, and i loved that just days into his life timmy attended of the most rocking weddings ever!

fast forward almost one year later when i get to meet timmy again – this time he is full of personality, excitement, and such amazing energy!

happiness is laying in the grass on a spring afternoon, snapping away as a beautiful baby marvels at the world around him…thank you to timmy’s parents for welcoming me into their home + lives, and thank you to katie + chris for making this session happen!

kathleen + jerry: engaged!

lovin’ it up in logan circle.

oh how i *love* kathleen + jerry!

they are engaged to be married this saturday at DAR and i cannot wait to photograph their day! we finally managed a rain-free hour on saturday to shoot their engagement session in logan circle – my favorite neighborhood (and theirs!) since they spent a ton of time there when they were dating. not only is logan such a colorful and rich area to begin with, but i didn’t realize how many black + red backgrounds would perfectly compliment their sassy attire! we had a blast walking through the neighborhood, wandering through the alleys and commandeering the sidewalk to get some amazing shots.

kathleen + jerry have such good energy – i really dig being around them. plus they are super stylish, ridiculously good looking, and have a fabulous propensity for easy laughter and genuine smiles. oh, and they are having duff from charm city cakes create an iphone wedding cake – what could be cooler than that?

kristin + joe: family session!

an afternoon in the neighborhood.

i was so excited to spend the afternoon with my favorite family a few weeks ago! this was the third time i’ve photographed kristin + joe’s awesome family, and i love them more every time! i was hooked on this family after doing a lifestyle session with jules + alexander just over a year ago! a month later, i got to meet all of kristin’s family and do family photos with everyone for father’s day. so of course i was thrilled to document another fabulous afternoon with this duo and their adorable kids on easter sunday! even more so, i was ecstatic to learn that kristin + joe are expecting another baby! woohoo! i couldn’t be happier for them – they are such incredible parents and they are so totally in love – it’s nothing short of amazing to be around them. and so of course, another fantastic session to add to the list!

jules + alexander were super happy and excited (as always!) when i arrived, showing off their easter baskets and goodies from the morning! alexander was showing me some of his crazy cool action figures when jules told her daddy “alexander loves jaime!” – and seriously, it was the cutest thing that’s ever happened. i feel so lucky that these kids are so cool with me crashing their sunday and taking a ton of photos with my big crazy cameras. they go on about their business having fun, playing, smiling and being a family and i get to do what i love best – document the action as it unfolds.

we packed up and took off for a walk through the neighborhood – strolling along a wooded path leading to the playground (yay!) and the docks. alexander zoomed along on his scooter and jules chased behind him. these kids are so good to each other – jules adores her big brother and alexander is so sweet to her. before we got to the docks we stopped to pick up rocks to skip (read :: toss) into the water and alexander was super concerned with making sure jules got a good rock too. love it!

it was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon, and i loved watching everyone just be together. what a privilege! there was a lot of singing, hugging, laughing and even a little easter candy snacking, and all the while i kept thinking: i have the best job ever.

missy + mark: engaged!

puppy makes three.

missy + mark are getting married! woohoo! this fabulous couple is tying the knot this summer and i can’t wait! i had a great time with them this week shooting their engagement session – especially because i got to meet sammie! i *love* including pets in sessions – sammie is definitely an important part of missy + mark’s life and she was so fun. we explored their historic neighborhood, strolled through arlington, and even managed to survive a crazy 5-minute hail storm! the weather turned wicked windy and chilly – a stark contrast to our warm spring days of late. regardless, we got some great images and i am so looking forward to their awesome wedding!

thanks for braving the elements with me missy + mark – i had a blast!!

anna + dave: engaged!

crossing party lines.

anna + dave are engaged! dave *just* proposed two weeks ago along the blooming tidal basin and this couple is absolutely radiant! after surprising her with a spectacular proposal he also surprised her with an engagement session! i was so excited to meet them – their excitement and love was amazing! we met at sunrise in front of the jefferson memorial and took a quick stroll along the tidal basin before ditching the impending crowds! anna + dave love their neighborhood so we explored the colorful streets of capitol hill after a brief stop at the picturesque senate park.

my absolute favorite part of the day was anna+ dave’s brief dance party in front of the american legion – apparently the AL is off the chain! after seeing their sweet moves i’m convinced that anna + dave pretty much rock. when they weren’t dancing, laughing, are being ridiculously cute they were always looking at each other with so much love + admiration – dave never took his eyes off anna. they make a fantastic couple – complimenting each other in so many ways, not to mention political beliefs…once again a couple proves that bi-partisanship is possible! and republicans truly do love democrats! woohoo!

anna + dave: i am truly thrilled for you and know your life will be absolutely amazing together – thank you for allowing me to document your love. CONGRATS!!
