donna + brian: engaged!

love: philadelphia style.

donna + brian are engaged! they are young, fun, in love, and they are *huge* phillies fans! i traveled up to philadephia and met them at citizens bank park – the phillies gorgeous baseball stadium. donna arranged for us to have a tour of the stadium, inside + out – we wandered through the building, peeked in the locker rooms, hit up the players’ club and the press box, and then headed outside. we explored the dugout, the field, the stands, and were in awe of how massive and empty it was with just the three of us there (plus our fabulous tour guide!) all around the stadium neon-lights congratulated donna + brian on their engagement – it was so awesome!

after the stadium, we ventured downtown for some pretty city shots near the art museum and the waterfront. it was an absolutely gorgeous day and i am so glad i finally got to meet donna + brian! donna and i have been facebook buddies ever since she first contacted me about setting up a session, and brian’s older brother dave (of dave + amanda) is a friend + former client, so it felt like we already knew each other :) i loved our action-packed session and all the fantastic locations we visited – donna + brian you guys rock!

melissa + mike: engaged!

in the name of love.

melissa + mike pretty much rock. i originally met this couple in the summer of 2007 at one of the very first weddings i ever shot – melissa was a bridesmaid at andrea + bobby’s wedding in york, pa. i was thrilled to hear from melissa again late last year when she + mike got engaged! they are getting married next weekend in philadelphia, and i had a fantastic time with them during the great philly shootout last week! technically, this should really be part III of the philly series since melissa + mike had the final session of the day, but in light of their upcoming nuptials i decided to bump them to part I!

i arrived at their absolutely adorable house late in the afternoon, having shot two sessions earlier that day. melissa was amazed at my crazy energy level, but i was just so excited to spend some time with her + mike and get to know them better before the wedding! we explored the amazing 9,000 acres that is fairmount park – hitting a ton of fantastic places and bending the rules just a bit…a little harmless climbing on the rocks (they are athletic!), entering certain park areas after hours (the gate was open!) and of course the illegal parking…i have to admit i was a little nervous, especially when i thought we might have to sleep in the butterfly garden, but it was so worth it! i love these images, i had such a great time and i cannot wait for their wedding next weekend!

angeli + thong are getting married!

i was delighted to meet this fun (not to mention absolutely adorable!) couple in georgetown for an early morning engagement session. i love shooting first thing in the morning, it’s the perfect way to start the day and the light is stellar. it was a particularly gorgeous morning and we had the streets of georgetown all to ourselves. pre-traffic and pre-crowds, we freely explored the canal, the alleyways, and of course the georgetown campus – go hoyas! thong graduated just days after our session and the campus was already preparing for the commencement – so exciting! this was only my second time on campus and it really is stunning – the architecture combined with the serenity of the grounds that early in the morning was amazing. we made our way slowly back to m street where the morning bustle was underway, stopping briefly to check out the great archways and doorways of the neighborhood.

i’m super excited for this couple – they are a perfect match and i know they will have a wonderful life together!

hello philadelphia!

the great philly shootout.

i spent the entire day tuesday shooting in downtown philly with three absolutely amazing couples! i started the morning with an anniversary session for leigh + scott downtown, headed over to the baseball stadium for part I of donna + brian’s engagement session, then to the art museum for part II, and then to narberth to meet up with melissa + mike before exploring fairmount park for their session!

it was a fantastic, crazy, fun, exhausting day and i loved every minute of it! shooting three full sessions in one day is no easy task – especially in another city! i was up and back in the same day since i have a very full week here in dc, so i didn’t get to spend much time exploring the rest of philly – but i loved what i saw and can’t wait to go back very soon.

the official “shootout” stats :: 3 sessions, 3000 images, 300 miles, 15 hours, and (shockingly) very little caffeine.

kathleen + jerry: engaged!

lovin’ it up in logan circle.

oh how i *love* kathleen + jerry!

they are engaged to be married this saturday at DAR and i cannot wait to photograph their day! we finally managed a rain-free hour on saturday to shoot their engagement session in logan circle – my favorite neighborhood (and theirs!) since they spent a ton of time there when they were dating. not only is logan such a colorful and rich area to begin with, but i didn’t realize how many black + red backgrounds would perfectly compliment their sassy attire! we had a blast walking through the neighborhood, wandering through the alleys and commandeering the sidewalk to get some amazing shots.

kathleen + jerry have such good energy – i really dig being around them. plus they are super stylish, ridiculously good looking, and have a fabulous propensity for easy laughter and genuine smiles. oh, and they are having duff from charm city cakes create an iphone wedding cake – what could be cooler than that?

narda + todd: engaged!

narda + todd are engaged! i had a fantastic time meeting this exuberant couple for an early morning session a few weeks ago! they met and fell in love on the west coast and will be getting married next august back in sunny southern california. however, they got engaged in dc and live in silver spring, so it was important to them that their engagement photos reflected their life here in dc. our session was a true urban adventure – we visited the lincoln memorial and the capitol building, explored capitol hill, downtown silver spring and finished at a nearby trail where we joined up with their awesome dalmation mix – harley! narda made these great signs for their save-the-dates – so creative! – and harley was a good sport :) i’m excited to see what she designs with the images, and i posted one of my favorites from the set at the end of this post…enjoy!
