lori + jamel: married!

a sunday kind of love.

when i think of lori + jamel the lyrics of powerful love songs rush into my thoughts – not only is their love visibly poetic, but music is extremely important to them. from the string quartet that welcomed guests to the wedding to the tunisian tempo that jazzed up the reception, music played a pivotal role in lori + jamel’s celebration.

before an intimate crowd of family + friends, they pledged their love + commitment and were married at the carnegie institution in washington, dc. the afternoon ceremony was a continuation of their spectacular day – having completed the cherry blossom ten-mile run together that morning. i have never known a couple to run a race the morning of their wedding, but with lori + jamel you learn to expect the unexpected. these amazing individuals have found inspiration, strength, partnership and love with each other – all because they followed their hearts and chose to love without hesitation. their whirlwind romance has led them the truest understanding of love and commitment, and to the beginning of an amazing journey together.

everyone watched in anticipation as the bride descended into the rotunda to the tune of bittersweet symphony, joining jamel and the bridal party for the lovely, hymn-filled ceremony. afterwards, lori delighted guests with a surprise performance – serenading jamel with the hauntingly beautiful lyrics of you picked me, by a fine frenzy. sunlight streamed into the rotunda as lori + jamel opened the dance floor to edith piaf’s version of la vie en rose. throughout the reception the newlyweds moved gracefully together, dancing spontaneously, laughing heartily, and emanating their exuberant love.

lori + jamel have one of the most romantic, inspiring love stories of all time – of love at first sight and happily ever after. it has been an honor to document their love and to be inspired by such an incredible couple.

congratulations lori + jamel – you are truly amazing.

enjoy!
