leigh + scott: anniversary session.

everlasting love.

BLONDEPHOTO-LS-003-2004

meet leigh + scott. this amazing couple is bound together by love, creativity, and laughter. a few weeks ago i had the opportunity to meet up with them in downtown philadelphia to celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary (woohoo!) with a fun, impromtu photo session!

the entire shoot was so wonderfully serendipitous – leigh is the genius behind LL2B – the fabulous + renowned maker of all sorts of goodies, most notably these custom lip balms! she contacted me a few days prior to the session to inquire about a shoot and see if i’d be in the philly are anytime soon. i was already planning on heading up on the 19th for two engagement sessions and was excited to squeeze her in – especially when i found out that the 19th was their actual anniversary date! so perfect!

in addition to LL2B, leigh + scott have a sweet studio + exhibition space in the city – basekamp – that showcases large scale collaborative projects by contemporary artists. we met at the studio and then walked around town, weaving in and out of parks, courtyards, and the oldest cemetery i’ve ever seen. we made our way back to basekamp and did a few shots on the roof and inside of the studio. i got to learn about their newest project and was absolutely fascinated by the projects they work on! if i ever hesitate to refer to myself as an “artist” it is because of tremendously talented and creative people like leigh + scott. to me, they are the coolest kind of artists – using visual and philosophical methods to explore dynamic sociological issues and truly living a life entrenched and influenced by art, creativity and knowledge. i really enjoyed spending the morning with these two and can’t wait to visit them again soon.

enjoy!

my new favorite photog: joe shymanski.

things that make me happy.

“cubans” photo by joe shymanski.

there is nothing i love in life more than art. i love every type of art, and there is isn’t anything that makes me happier than wandering through an art market, full of incredible artists displaying their work, and the undeniable energy of people’s exploration and admiration as they meander through the stalls. so…imagine my delight (yippie!) at discovering the 4th annual downtown holiday market right in my neighborhood – open everyday from 12-8pm until dec. 23rd – woohoo! the market features over 150 exhibitors, including some truly amazing artists as well as area vendors, and live entertainment. the market’s focus this year is environmental sustainability, and i absolutely love everything about it.

the highlight of my shopping was meeting the absolutely fabulous photographer joe shymanski. his photos, powerful and gorgeous images from dc + around the world, immediately drew me in – and his crazy awesome personality kept me at his booth for almost an hour. i fell in love with this large framed print of cuban cigars from one of his trips to cuba. his photography talent is perfectly complemented by his killer woodwork skills, and i am in awe of all his repurposed, rugged wood frames! i can’t wait to hang this piece and i am so happy to have met such a phenomenal photog! you can catch joe at the holiday market until dec 20th AND at eastern market every weekend. you can visit his site here but the real treat is seeing his latest work in person – nothing is better than amazing photographs hanging in gorgeous frames + getting an opportunity to chat with the artist!

enjoy!

kelcey + peter: married!

kelcey + peter = wedding of the year.

kelcey-peter-weddingblog-62-6067

oh, kelcey + peter! a huge CONGRATS to two of my favorite newlyweds ever!

where do i start with this couple? kelcey + peter are absolutely incredible! individually they are fun + sassy, thoughtful + kind, and together they are wonderfully, seriously in love, and so perfect together! their amazing reputation as a great pair preceeded them, but i was still overwhelmed with what a dynamic couple they really are. i love everything about these two and their wedding was such a true reflection of their love and the love of all of their family + friends.

the entire day was a celebration – from the fantastically anticipated “first moment”, to the spectacular trolley tour of the city, the majestic evening ceremony in a candlelit church followed by a rockstar reception at sequioa – this was a truly momentous occasion.

reflecting on kelcey + peter’s wedding (and the 3,000+ images!) it was so difficult to select which ones to share for this blog post because every part of the day was so full of emotion and energy, and i get so excited just thinking back to all the details of the day…

kelcey laughing with her girls while getting ready…peter’s elation at seeing his bride for the first time…the champagne corks popping on the trolley ride…all the fun stops at kelcey + peter’s favorite dc landmarks…the surreal ambience in the candlelit church with the evening sun streaming through the stained glass…the gorgeous waterfront reception in georgetown…the phenomenal band that swept everyone in all their excitement up and onto the dance floor all night long…and kelcey + peter, dancing together, encircled by the crowd and peeking up out of a sea of faces, surrounded, encased, in love.

kelcey + peter: thank you for letting me be a part of your day, and your lives. you have an inspiring love and i feel so very lucky that you trusted me to document it. i know your life together will be full of laughter, love, and an infinite amount of happiness…congratulations!

enjoy!

jillian + kyle: married!

ladies + gentleman we are floating in space.

jillian + kyle had an absolutely perfect wedding last weekend at willow. the theme was fabulous cocktail party meets intimate wedding ceremony with good wine, good food, and really good music. their closest family + friends were greeted with glasses of champagne and invited to mingle on the patio and enjoy the warm fall afternoon. just after 6pm everyone gathered inside the restaurant to watch as jillian + kyle entered through the front doors and made their way down the aisle together. a brief and beautiful ceremony pronounced them husband + wife, cocktails + dinner followed, good conversation + great dancing took place, and everyone had a wonderful time.

jillian + kyle: thank you for inviting me to be a part of your perfect day – you are a such lovely couple and i’m so glad i was a part of your wedding!

enjoy!

paulie + family. (my family!)

my favorite little friend.

this week i’m traveling through the south visiting family, friends and clients and soaking up a little sun before the fall sets in back in dc!

right now i’m spending my days with paul – my awesome cousin who just turned four! he’s so smart, so funny, and witty as can be. he’s keeping me very busy playing spongebob bingo, building super tall lego buildings, making train tracks for thomas + friends, and reading and spelling (he goes to school now!) the sweet return is that he loves having his picture taken and has no inhibitions in front of the camera, not to mention he’s pretty much the cutest thing i have ever seen! i love this little guy!

enjoy!

paul + his dad, my uncle marc.

paul + grandma mary dot!

rin-rin + jon (and company): engaged!

family matters.

meet rin-rin + jon and their awesome family! i am so excited to be photographing their wedding in a few weeks, they are a great couple and had the wonderful idea of doing their session at the national arboretum. it was my first time visiting the arboretum and i loved it! we explored the verdant grounds, admiring the bonsai trees, herb gardens, blooming flowers and trees, and even made our way over to the stately capital columns and grove of state trees.

rin-rin + jon decided to share their engagement session with their best friends: rin-rin’s sister, brother-in-law and adorable niece, who are a huge part of their daily life. i was definitely excited – the more the merrier! i was able to get great photos of rin-rin + jon as well as the whole family and i had a great time getting to know everyone!

enjoy!
