blonde photo images at the car wash!

the uber-fabulous new canton car wash recently ordered four HUGE canvas wraps for their swanky lobby!
at 24×36 the vibrant images look amazing printed on heavy canvas and stretched over 1.5 inch wooden frames. you might recognize the photos from the dc auto show that i photographed earlier this year. the owners selected my favorite images and they truly compliment the decor in the lobby perfectly. i was thrilled to hear that so many customers have already remarked on how much they love the new artistic addition! i’m planning to do more canvases for CCW, i’m thinking b+w scenes of baltimore city perhaps…enjoy!

i love critical exposure! i had the privilege of attending another class with the amazing jahi wise + emma nolan-abrahamian, to speak to their students about photography! this summer critical exposure is working with the higher achievement program in dc. as an elective, the photography class is the last period of the school day and lasts about one hour. on wednesday i talked with the students about portraits and they tried their hand at using digital SLRs – many for the very first time!
the kids, 5th-8th graders, partnered up and broke into little photog teams – taking turns being photographers and models! i snapped away the entire period, giving pointers and ideas to the students, reminding them to look through the camera (not just at the back like regular point + shoots!) and encouraged them to zoom in, get close, and interact with their subjects. earlier that week they learned about environmental portraits and will be working on that over the course of the class. they are also learning about composition, technique and lighting, and will even be constructing pin-hole cameras next week! so cool.

enjoy!

summer lovin’.

buffy + george flash the *ring* finger after tying the knot.
buffy + george are married!
their phenomenal wedding took place at the sublime woodend sanctuary in chevy chase, maryland. the ceremony was held in the stunning grove, with buffy + george nestled beneath the tall trees and encircled by their closest family + friends. as the sun set, guests mingled on the portico, sipping cocktails and listening to the string duo while deer grazed and frolicked just a few feet away. the entire party was comprised of less than 50 people – a wonderfully intimate affair to celebrate a fabulous couple!
in addition to the gorgeous setting, the woodend is also a fantastic venue for eco-friendly weddings, an integral aspect of buffy + george’s celebration. the details were gorgeous + unique: a fresh hydrangea bouquet from their neighbor’s garden, simple candles centerpieces set in sea glass, an antique cowbell that called guests to the reception. most delightful was the local handmade organic soaps from 8th street soap kitchen in capitol hill! another fun detail: george designed their wedding logo for the soaps, invitations, programs and marriage certificate! love!
i can’t help but absolutely *love* buffy + george. they are such creative, unique and kind people and i am so grateful to have met them (thanks dana + brian!!), gotten to know them and been witness to their wedding day. from their quiet intimacy to their inside jokes, it’s a joy to document the love of two people that so perfectly complement one another.
the connection between buffy + george is nothing short of amazing and their compassion is unparalleled. simply put, they are good people and i couldn’t be happier for them.
enjoy!

flashing their b+g…

say hello to liam + lily wynn! last week i had the pleasure of meeting these absolutely adorable children for a lifestyle family session with their parents + grandparents – so fun!
they were very excited, especially after liam confirmed with me that he “didn’t have to look at the camera” (too funny!) and i had a great time watching them riding their bikes, blowing bubbles, and playing on their awesome swing set. even better, their parents got in on the action – swinging and even sliding down the slide with the kids! they are such a fun and loving family – there was lots of laughter (due to lots of tickling!), lots of hugs, and so many silly faces. i just love seeing siblings play together – learning their favorite games, and funny things they like to do. i especially love how kids always want to show you things – they are such fabulous little entertainers!
ENJOY!
