big red barns + twinkling white lights make me very, very happy.
imagine taking a perfectly picturesque venue and decking it out with buckets of bright yellow mums, bales of hay, clusters of corn stalks and big orange pumpkins. then mix in a totally rockin’ band, great food, 150 or so happy family + friends, and one of the nicest, cutest couples ever. the result was a simply fabulous celebration for julie + patrick! yay!
i was thrilled to document this event, and excited to trek out to poolesville and check out pat’s family farm. although it was a very wet + rainy evening, the barn provided perfect shelter and an unbelievable atmosphere for all the excitement surrounding this couple! i literally shrieked with delight when i saw the fantastic barn all lit up, and didn’t stop smiling from the moment i met julie + patrick. they absolutely exude goodness + happiness. they are getting married next fall and i know they are looking forward to an exciting year of planning and celebration – woohoo!

new baby + new big sister!
hello baby gracyn!
this delightful 4-week old baby girl was such a joy to photograph. i loved spending the morning with her + big sister kimsey (don’t you just *adore* their gorgeous names?) – it was a joy watching their amazing mom shannon swoon over them! shannon is good friends with the fabulous kristin demarco – nursery designer + mommy extraordinaire – so it was no surprise that i fell in love with shannon + her girls immediately.
i love seeing mothers interact with their children – there is something wonderfully overwhelming about witnessing that kind of limitless, unconditional love. plus, seeing such tiny perfect replicas of people always excites me! i am totally, completely in awe of babies, families and everything and i feel so lucky to document their lives!

i had *the* best time ever running the streets of downtown chicago with joe + sean the morning of their wedding! yes! en route to the hotel with their suits in the car we decided to spare an hour, during which they gave me a mini-tour of chicago’s iconic public art! amazing. it was a gorgeous fall day and they were both so happy + excited – i just love the energy that comes through in these images!
since joe + sean had a private ceremony a few months ago in connecticut (hence the wedding bands) this mini-session was just another excuse to hang out with them and get some great, relaxed photos that represent their love + life in chicago. shooting a lifestyle session the morning of the wedding was a new experience for me and i loved it! we were all giddy with excitement and it was the perfect way to start the day!

last night hela spa + ted gibson salon celebrated their grand opening at their chevy chase location! i was thrilled to document the evening – i’ve watched hela grow and change, having the pleasure of working with them for the last two years, starting at their lovely georgetown spa. meeting ted gibson and his talented team has been fantastic (for photography and for my hair!) and i feel very lucky to count them among my wonderful clients!
a stunning pink carpet lined the entrance to the salon and guests were greeted with an espresso bar, moet rose champagne + delicious cuisine. conversation + laughter flowed as guests mingled and toured the salon. it was a fantastic event and i think i speak for everyone in the dc when i say we are ecstatic to welcome ted gibson + his team and excited for their partnership with hela!

last week i had the privilege to photograph the announcement ceremony for the sheikh zayed institute for pediatric surgical innovation at children’s national medical center, made possible by an incredible $150 million gift from the government of abu dhabi – the largest ever for pediatric surgery. i love working with cnmc – they do amazing work and have the absolute best staff and community ever. i am always honored and humbled when i document their events, and this time was no different. among the speakers were dc mayor adrian fenty, notable philanthropist joseph robert, and the ambassador of the united arab emirates, his excellency yousef al otaiba. afterwards, there was a reception which ended with a celebratory champagne toast!
