because illness and disease know no boundaries.

children’s national medical center – washington, dc.

last week i had the privilege to photograph the announcement ceremony for the sheikh zayed institute for pediatric surgical innovation at children’s national medical center, made possible by an incredible $150 million gift from the government of abu dhabi – the largest ever for pediatric surgery. i love working with cnmc – they do amazing work and have the absolute best staff and community ever. i am always honored and humbled when i document their events, and this time was no different. among the speakers were dc mayor adrian fenty, notable philanthropist joseph robert, and the ambassador of the united arab emirates, his excellency yousef al otaiba. afterwards, there was a reception which ended with a celebratory champagne toast!

  1. Hello, I just wanted to commend you on your great photos! I love the way that you tell a story through your pictures. I am a inspiring photographer who works at Children’s and a new fan of the Blonde Photographer! Please consider teaching classes or conducting workshops sometimes in the near future. Continued Success!

  2. First of all, these pictures are amazing (as they all are). But even better, it gave me the perfect in to ask my SIL about her new fellowship at DC Children’s. As it turns out, she’ll be the first fellow for the institute and her boss is the one in the red polka dot tie at the podium. Thanks for the conversation starter!
