i’m very excited to announce that i have just been accepted as one of the photographers for the littlest heroes project! i am proud to join forces with an amazing team of photographers who donate their time + talents to this worthy organization. the littlest heroes project is a non-profit organization that matches photographers with families of children suffering from serious illnesses and/or life altering disabilities. through complimentary photo sessions, the project aims to capture the happiness + love of the children and their families – showing the children that they are true heroes to so many people! the project honors their bravery and their struggle by sharing their inspirational stories + photos with the world. 

a huge thanks to natalie franke (an amazing young woman and very passionate photographer!) for sharing this organization with me and inspiring me to join!

inaugural concert!

this afternoon i braved the wicked winter weather to revel in the inaugural excitement that is sweeping into the district. i was joined by a crowd of nearly 1 million people gathered on the mall to watch the “we are one” inaugural concert at the lincoln memorial. it was an amazing and inspiring musical + historical tribute to our country and our next president. i loved the outstanding energy + excitement of the crowd, and it was thrilling just to be there, let alone all the incredible celebrities, musicians, and of course, the obamas! the highlight was definitely hearing president elect obama speak to the sea of supportive, cheering people – i admire and respect his optimism, determination, and ability to unite people and i anticipate many good times ahead.

dancing after dark.

CNMC hosts its annual winter gala at POSH.

hundreds of stylish young philanthropists came out for the annual dancing after dark event at POSH last weekend. it was a classy evening of cocktails, dessert + dancing to benefit children’s national medical center (CNMC). the infamous dr. bear even made an appearance, delighting everyone! i had a wonderful time covering this event for the second time in a row (the 2008 event was a blast as well!) and adore working with CNMC – it’s by far my favorite organization in DC, not only because of the *amazing* work they do, but because i absolutely love everyone who works there. it is such an outstanding group of individuals and i’m continually honored to do so much with them.

a feature on musician dave ihmels appeared in today’s LIVE! section of the washington post. i had the pleasure of hearing dave perform at melinda + tim’s awesome post-wedding bash where i shot the above photos. i was thrilled when he told me that the washington post was writing a piece on his work and honored to contribute a photo to the story, which appears online HERE. more importantly, you can catch dave playing music from his independently released CD Expandable, TOMORROW at fireflies in alexandria with linda sublett + todd baker.

hela: new location!

the fabulous swedish oasis opens a new location in chevy chase.

the delightful swedish spa hela recently opened a second location in chevy chase to compliment their existing space on m street in georgetown. i stopped by this week to photograph the exterior of the building and their chic new signage. the inside is gorgeous as well, but currently undergoing a few more transformations before it is perfectly complete! the new location is part of the collection at chevy chase and also features a swanky salon in addition to its top-of-the-line spa services! i’m so excited to go back soon – cheers to hela and a successful 2009 for all our wonderful local businesses!

a campaign poster for 2012? hardly! simply amusing myself in between severe stretches of editing! i promise, this is the end of ridiculous blog posts…but seriously, i found another amazing fun site to play with! i have MK to blame (and thank!) for directing me to the awesome + amusing obamiconme site – surely enough it provided me with tons of fun. ok, back to work now…
