lian + mark laugh a lot. this is possibly my favorite thing about them – aside from the sweet fact that they are totally in love and so happy together!
this november lian + mark are tying the knot in dc with a big, fun wedding honoring a mix of traditions – i’m very excited to document their chinese tea ceremony, catholic mass and celebratory reception – i know it’s going to be spectacular! lian + mark are spectacular people – i am so glad i met them! mark is a dj and we originally met at tina + gerard’s wedding last year…once he + lian set the date, the three of us met over coffee and got along famously! i have been looking forward to their engagement session ever since, and although mother nature messed with our plans to shoot on more than one occasion, we finally secured a sunny day and it was worth the wait!
we spent the afternoon exploring two of my favorite places in dc: the national arboretum and chinatown. the arboretum was as gorgeous as ever, with tons of unique spots and fabulous light. it’s such a tranquil place – i just love the experience of being there, it’s so relaxing! afterwards, we wanted a little more action, so we headed to chinatown where they surprised me with their new custom redskins jerseys – so fun! we ducked in and out of alleyways and braved traffic to make some awesome photos, and i had a fantastic time.
lian + mark: i cannot wait for your wedding!! i know it’s going to be an incredible experience and i’m going to have the time of my life! WOOHOO!

9 weeks.
oh baby! last week i met the darling baby elia – it’s been a long time since i photographed someone so little and i loved it! elia is tiny, perfect, and has two wonderful parents who simply adore him. elia is alert and intense – his gorgeous eyes fixed on everything – especially my camera! being with them in the nursery was so great – i so enjoy watching the interaction between new parents and their baby. i could see the pride, fascination and love they both have for this little guy – and after the first few minutes i loved him too!
after some playing, laughing, crying, and napping, we took a walk to their favorite park. elia looked ridiculously cute in his tiny baseball cap and he loves being outside. it was a fabulous way to spend the morning and i am so grateful that his parents invited me into their lives to meet elia and capture all his expressions and adorableness!

love: philadelphia style.
donna + brian are engaged! they are young, fun, in love, and they are *huge* phillies fans! i traveled up to philadephia and met them at citizens bank park – the phillies gorgeous baseball stadium. donna arranged for us to have a tour of the stadium, inside + out – we wandered through the building, peeked in the locker rooms, hit up the players’ club and the press box, and then headed outside. we explored the dugout, the field, the stands, and were in awe of how massive and empty it was with just the three of us there (plus our fabulous tour guide!) all around the stadium neon-lights congratulated donna + brian on their engagement – it was so awesome!
after the stadium, we ventured downtown for some pretty city shots near the art museum and the waterfront. it was an absolutely gorgeous day and i am so glad i finally got to meet donna + brian! donna and i have been facebook buddies ever since she first contacted me about setting up a session, and brian’s older brother dave (of dave + amanda) is a friend + former client, so it felt like we already knew each other :) i loved our action-packed session and all the fantastic locations we visited – donna + brian you guys rock!

weekend roundup :: a wedding, a little hero, and a crazy fun family session at the zoo!

as always, it was a very busy weekend for this blonde photographer! on saturday i headed up to baltimore to photograph rita + patrick’s amazing wedding celebration at the baltimore museum of industry and on sunday morning i met troy + his family for a littlest heroes session, and then headed back to the national zoo for jay, evie + christian’s lifestyle session in the afternoon. it was crazy busy, crazy fun, and of course i have the pictures to prove it! enjoy this little preview…much longer posts to come for all these sessions!

melissa + mike pretty much rock. i originally met this couple in the summer of 2007 at one of the very first weddings i ever shot – melissa was a bridesmaid at andrea + bobby’s wedding in york, pa. i was thrilled to hear from melissa again late last year when she + mike got engaged! they are getting married next weekend in philadelphia, and i had a fantastic time with them during the great philly shootout last week! technically, this should really be part III of the philly series since melissa + mike had the final session of the day, but in light of their upcoming nuptials i decided to bump them to part I!
i arrived at their absolutely adorable house late in the afternoon, having shot two sessions earlier that day. melissa was amazed at my crazy energy level, but i was just so excited to spend some time with her + mike and get to know them better before the wedding! we explored the amazing 9,000 acres that is fairmount park – hitting a ton of fantastic places and bending the rules just a bit…a little harmless climbing on the rocks (they are athletic!), entering certain park areas after hours (the gate was open!) and of course the illegal parking…i have to admit i was a little nervous, especially when i thought we might have to sleep in the butterfly garden, but it was so worth it! i love these images, i had such a great time and i cannot wait for their wedding next weekend!
