jason l brandt.

img_1185_2.jpg

jason l brandt is an LA-based actor that i met earlier this year at the sundance festival in park city…we did some impromtu headshots one afternoon and had a great time. actors really intrigue me, and it was very cool to chat with jason and try to capture his personality…i love the images that came out of this shoot and i can’t wait to work with him again. he’s currently in on a play opening this weekend in LA – the lost works of tennessee williams – and i’m heading out there and hope to get some more great shots of this incredibly talented (and wonderfully photogenic!) rising actor.

jill stevenson is an incredibly talented woman.
she is a phenomenal musician, a soulful singer, and a true artist.
i had the absolute pleasure of meeting her, photographing her, and listening to her perform live at sundance this year. going back over the images from our spontaneous photoshoot at the sundance house i remember what a delight she was and how honored i feel to have met her.

sven kamm: sundance 2008.

i had the absolute pleasure of meeting the very talented filmmaker sven kamm in park city last month at the sundance festival. furthermore, i got to photograph him one bright, snowy afternoon at the sundance house…the goldenhead team and crew were working hard to promote kamm’s newest film GO HOME POGUE MAHON – a dying arts production + goldenhead project.

alex funk.

funk.jpg

last night i had dinner with my good friend alex funk, who in addition to being dashingly handsome and hilariously funny, is a ridiculously talented dj.

it was so great to see him and catch up – between our schedules it takes nothing short of sheer luck for us to be able to hang out. he’s such a big deal now, and i’m so excited for him – he played the main stage at pride in baltimore this year, and is booking such cool gigs, in addition to playing local venues all around dc and b-more. his music totally gets me moving (a challenging task, see #3 below) not to mention he has an AMAZING remix of “ice, ice baby” (see #2 below).

we started laughing about an awesome photo shoot we did in the beginning of the year at his former studio – a massive warehouse in east baltimore. it was a blast running around the building and shooting in such a raw, industrial space, and then he spun for a while and i snapped away. those were pre-blogging days and i wanted to share a couple of our favorites…including the one above on his website. check him out at www.getfunk.com…GET FUNK!

kristen maye allan

kristen maye allan is arguably one of the best female judokas in the united states – and possibly the world.

in addition to being an incredible athlete, she is an awesome young girl (turned 24 yesterday!) with a great sense of humor, just the right amount of confidence, and a natural beauty.

the fabulous kate michael of the greater washington sports alliance accompanied kristen and worked on her hair and make-up. she did a great job!

photographing kristen was a blast! i had so much fun trying to make her laugh, and asking silly questions that demonstrated my (former!) ignorance of judo. i also inquired about her strength, her style, and her life (yes, she can kick my butt and no she will not succumb to cauliflower ear nor cut her gorgeous long blonde hair.)

kristen is proof that it is possible to be a strong, accomplished athlete and a friendly, beautiful woman – and not have to sacrifice one for the other. i have a lot of admiration for kristen and can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes.

olympic gold? i wouldn’t be surprised.
