halloween lovefest.

yesterday i met two absolutely wonderful couples, continuing my tradition of celebrating halloween by photographing love! i spent the afternoon chatting with leigh + mark (below) about their upcoming wedding next spring and couldn’t help snapping a quick photo of their cuteness before heading to my engagement session with brooke + dave (above!) in georgetown. it was a rainy fall day, but i was totally feeling the love and i am so happy to have met both of these couples! stay tuned for more from brooke + dave’s session as well as a forthcoming engagement session with leigh + mark!

last thursday was the most gorgeous fall day, absolutely perfect for a photo session! we started in their neighborhood near the national cathedral and made our way down to georgetown to the bustling action of m street as well as the serenity of the canals. jen + wayne are sweet, funny, smart, and totally in love – i really enjoyed spending the afternoon with them and watching them interact with each other. they were up for anything and took me to some of their favorite spots for super cute photos. they have great energy and i *loved* watching them dance and jump around in the alleys, their shadows bouncing around behind them…so fun!

dinner party @ the dupont hotel.

fact: ted gibson + mary amons know how to throw a party.

thursday night i swung by hotel dupont to snap some photos of one of my favorite clients – ted gibson! it is almost impossible to find anyone that exudes as much good energy as ted gibson and everyone was in the absolute best spirits for his gorgeous dinner party co-hosted by mary amons, founder of the district sample sale and labels for love.

critical exposure: photo students!

dc elementary students develop an eye for photography.

yesterday i had another wonderful experience working with critical exposure – my absolute favorite educational organization in dc! currently they are partnering with cameras for kids, a fotoweek dc program, to conduct a school-based workshop at martin luther king elementary school. i was so excited to visit MLK and talk with the students about photography, discuss the techniques they are learning, and answer questions about being a photographer! we spent half of the time in the classroom looking at images and going over techniques, and the the other half walking around the neighborhood taking photos! the students took turns on both sides of the camera – everyone seemed as excited about modeling as they did about shooting – it was fantastic. in preparation for developing a photo essay, they worked on experimenting with different points of view, looking for leading lines, and thinking about the rule of thirds. i was so impressed with everything they have learned and how anxious they were to put it all into practice. i demonstrated a few of my techniques when shooting and had a total blast with them!

mo + robert: engaged!

the time of the season.

mo + robert are engaged!

i was delighted to meet this awesome + energetic couple a few weeks ago for an engagement session downtown. summer was just rolling out and it was a perfect fall evening to stroll around the pond near the lincoln memorial – a long time favorite spot of theirs and a first for me! the late afternoon light was surreal and i took every advantage to shoot directly into the sun, since i think nothing is more magical than wild, unruly sunflare!

we walked and talked and shot and laughed for almost two hours, and i’m so glad i got to meet this couple. they are so cute together, very funny, and totally passionate about travel + music, and of course, each other! i’m constantly amazed at how lucky i am to attract the *most* wonderful couples who are willing to open their lives + hearts to me – spending time with happy people in love is such a joy!
