children’s hospital: circle of care.

celebrating the spirit of philanthropy.

last night i had the opportunity once again to work with children’s hospital. the CNMC circle of care event was held at the national zoo where guests were able to check out the children’s farm, visit the animal hospital, and observe amphibians! celebrity guest doctor bear was there, along with two fantastically entertaining clowns from the big apple circus clown care, and an incredibly talented face painter! it was a wonderful evening with lots of super cute families and adorable children having a great time. a huge thank you to all the extremely generous circle of care members who support children’s hospital!

amanda + cliff: engaged!

love at first sight.

amanda + cliff met less than a year ago and fell instantly in love…shortly after they started dating cliff proposed and they are thrilled to be planning their wedding for next year! i love couples that just “know” and are so excited to spend their lives together – i think it’s absolutely wonderful. i had a great time meeting up with these two lovebirds in georgetown where we wandered around the neighborhoods, visited montrose park and even made a stop at starbucks…

liz + stew: married!

rock you like a hurricane.

hurricane hannah and all her fury couldn’t stop liz + stew from celebrating and having an absolutely fantastic wedding last weekend!

from the moment i met these two i knew the wedding was going to be a wild celebration: liz is from portugal and stew is from louisiana – their families + friends traveled from all over to celebrate in true cajun/portuguese fashion! aside from the stunning newlyweds, all the attention was on their absolutely adorable twin boys, zac + tyler! the little guys were so great all day, from strolling down the aisle to dancing + eating cake: they had the time of their life!

family is so very important to liz + stew, and they are so lucky to have such an amazing one. they are incredible parents and so in love with each other, i just don’t think they could possibly be any happier. liz never stopped smiling and stew never stopped dancing, and i’m pretty sure they’ll spend the rest of their life celebrating, because in each other they have truly found happiness.

margie + jeff: married!

a rockstar evening.

congratulations margie + jeff!

this high-energy, oh-so-fun, gorgeous wedding is brought to you by the fabulous staff at the doubletree bethesda, where the super amazing catering manager happens to be the bride herself! it was wonderful to see margie enjoying the rewards of all the hard work she is usually bestowing on other couples! i met margie + jeff over a year ago when i photographed the grand opening of the swanky great room, and was delighted when she called me to be her wedding photographer! we had a crazy fun engagement session a few months ago, where they both captured my heart with their great personalities and sense of humor.

margie + jeff celebrated their wedding day in the company of their family and friends, starting with an intimate ketubah signing (the mot gorgeous ketubah i’ve ever seen) followed by a beautiful jewish ceremony and the wildly fun reception. the amazingly talented band onyx kept the dance floor packed, and margie + jeff made it on stage more than a few times – jeff even played the drums with the band! everyone had a fabulous time, especially margie + jeff who never sat for a moment – they were everywhere: dancing, laughing, and embracing their guests.

right now the newlyweds are enjoying their honeymoon escape to the unparalleled greek islands!

hayley + derric: engagement.

a texan love affair.

i *love* hayley + derric! i had such a great time meeting up with them for a saturday afternoon session on the mall. they met in texas, but followed their careers (and their hearts) to dc – and just a few weeks ago derric proposed! they are planning a fabulous wedding back in texas, but really wanted their engagement photos to reflect their lives here in dc…we walked around the mall on and explored the sculpture garden, botanical garden, and eventually the lawn of the capitol. they are a stunning couple (dark hair + bright blue eyes = my favorite combination) and they were really fun – smiling and laughing the whole time…another FABULOUS engagement session! thanks guys!

yeti + carl: married!

come rain or come shine…

yeti + carl are married! their fabulous june wedding was one wild celebration that gave mother nature a run for her money! on one of the hottest days of the year yeti + carl said “i do” in a sweltering church, sans air conditioning, fanned (literally) by their family + friends. as if the heat wasn’t enough, a serious summer storm swept in and threatened to take down the house! the reception was held on the water at celebrations on the bay, under a massive tent. strong winds knocked out power, and we were left in the dark without music, without lights, and once again without AC! not to be discouraged, this fantastic sierra leonian celebration continued, with much dancing, cheering, toasting, and undeniable energy and excitement for yeti + carl.

this wedding was a joint collaboration between myself and MK – a BLONDE PHOTO/MARY KATE MCKENNA production that Mk refers to as MK & J! it was wonderful as always shooting with MK, and at a festive sierra leonian wedding it would have been impossible to do it alone! there are so many wonderful traditions and events happening at once that one photog is never enough, and luckily we have experience with african weddings and so we knew exactly what we were in for – the ultimate celebration! yay for yeti + carl!
