blonde photo: the logo.

introducing my fabulous new logo + slogan:

this awesome design is brought to you by funnel: eric kass – the most amazingly talented and innovative designer ever! i am in *love* with the logo (which btw is my silhouette!) the fonts, the slogan, everything! it’s perfect. he even won me over with the capital letters – who knew that was possible?

so learn to love this little head…it will be popping up all over the place pretty soon…

women of courage.

img_8659.jpg img_8700.jpg

last week the american women for international understanding (AWIU) celebrated it’s 40th anniversary and hosted “conversations with women of courage” at the national press club. the state department’s international women of courage awards were presented by secretary condoleezza rice the previous day, and were part of a week-long celebration to honor the award winners. that the eight recipients hailed from around the globe, each with an amazing story of valiant efforts to to promote peace and understanding against incredible odds.

it was an inspiring evening, and a true honor to be amongst such strong, resilient women fighting for justice in their own communities all over the world. from the refugee camps of somalia to the tribal areas of pakistan to the mafia-controlled regions of paraguay – these women put themselves at risk on a daily basis to bring safety, justice and hope to women who otherwise are in great risk. although i was a guest i did bring my camera, and managed to get a few shots of these outstanding women. it’s impossible to capture all that they are in a photograph, but i feel that their beauty and spirit is truly reflected in these images.

nationals park.

img_0013.jpg

dc’s new stadium – nationals park – is almost completed! with opening day just 5 weeks away, construction is still under way as the stadium readies itself for a “green” season. with a goal of reaching LEED certification, nationals park will be the first professional ballpark in the country to be recognized as “going green.” i had the privilege of touring the stadium yesterday with a team of architects and a reporter from green products and technology magazine. i was mainly photographing the green elements of the stadium, but also got a few fun shots as well…it was very cool standing on the field and looking at all the empty seats, just sitting there waiting for the fans. from the stadium, spectators have awesome views of the capitol and monuments, making a day at the park a true dc experience. we toured the entire stadium from the “cheap seats” at the very top to the team locker room. everything looks fantastic and i can’t wait to go to a game this year!
